Circular Economy (2024–2029). She leads EU work on environmental protection and the circular economy, focusing on incentives, investment and the implementation of existing legislation, in line with the European Green Deal.
Her portfolio includes a Circular Economy Act to boost demand for secondary raw materials and create a single market for waste, an updated bioeconomy strategy, and stronger rules for sustainable products. She also works on the EU zero-pollution ambition, a new chemicals industry package, and better enforcement of environmental and biodiversity laws.
She contributes to international agreements such as the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, the global plastics treaty, and the High Seas Treaty. She also promotes nature-positive investment and tools like nature credits.
A key priority is the European Water Resilience Strategy, aimed at improving water security, infrastructure and investment in water technologies across Europe. She also contributes to the EU Climate Adaptation Plan, the Vision for Agriculture and Food, and the New European Bauhaus.
Previously, she was Minister for EU Affairs (2022–2024), Vice-Chair of the EU Committee in the Swedish Parliament (2019–2022), and a Member of the Riksdag (2010–2022). She has also held various advisory roles and worked as a lawyer at Wigert & Placht AB (2002–2010).
