Nick Hurd is a British policymaker and impact finance leader dedicated to accelerating the global transition to net zero and sustainable economic systems. Former UK Minister for Climate Change and Industry, he operates at the intersection of public policy, climate governance, and sustainable finance.
He was educated in the United Kingdom and entered public service after working in international development and policy advisory roles. Elected to the UK Parliament in 2005, he became a leading voice on climate action, energy transition, and industrial decarbonisation, holding several ministerial roles related to climate, environment, industry, and economic transformation.
He currently serves as Chair of GSG Impact, a global network promoting impact investment across governments, financial institutions, and development agencies; Chair of the Access Foundation for Social Investment, focused on improving access to finance for social enterprises; and Chair of (I)x Net Zero, an initiative mobilising private capital for net zero solutions.
As Minister, Hurd contributed to shaping the UK’s decarbonisation strategies, clean energy policies, and industrial transition frameworks. His work today focuses on translating climate ambition into practical financial and policy systems capable of delivering large-scale transformation while ensuring economic resilience and social equity.
