Bertrand Badré

Bertrand Badré is a global leader in sustainable finance and development, and the Founder and CEO of BlueLikeAnOrange Sustainable Capital, an investment firm dedicated to mobilising private capital to address climate change and advance the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in emerging and developing markets.

With a background in economics and finance, he has built a distinguished international career across leading financial institutions and multilateral organisations, developing deep expertise in public finance, capital markets, and global investment frameworks.

Prior to founding BlueLikeAnOrange, Badré served as Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer of the World Bank Group, where he was responsible for global financial strategy and played a key role in mobilising resources for climate action, infrastructure development, and poverty reduction. During his tenure, he worked on advancing reforms aimed at making global financial systems more responsive to sustainability challenges and long-term development needs.
His work focuses on blended finance mechanisms, sustainable investment strategies in emerging economies, financial innovation for resilience and inclusion, and the broader reform of the international financial architecture to better align capital flows with environmental and social priorities.

Badré is also a published author, exploring the role of finance in shaping a more sustainable and equitable world. His books include Can Finance Save the World? Regaining Control over Money to Serve the Common Good and Do We (Seriously) Want to Change the World?, both of which reflect his belief that finance can and should be redirected toward the common good.

Through his work, he advocates for a financial system aligned with planetary boundaries and social progress, capable of directing large-scale capital toward long-term, sustainable transformation.
