Carlo Carraro

Carlo Carraro is one of the world’s leading climate economists and a globally recognized authority on climate policy, sustainable development, and international environmental governance. He is President Emeritus and Professor of Climate Economics at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University. Over the past four decades, his work has played a defining role in shaping the economic understanding of climate change and the design of international climate agreements.

A prolific scholar, Carraro is the author of more than 40 books and over 300 scientific articles, making him one of the most cited voices in the field of climate economics. His research has focused on climate policy design, international cooperation, sustainable growth, and the economics of environmental transition, providing key frameworks used by governments, institutions, and global organizations.

Alongside his academic career, he serves as Strategic Board Member of the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC), is a member of the World Economic Forum Expert Network, and is affiliated with leading international research institutions including CEPR, CESifo, and CEPS. In 2013, he was awarded the title of Grande Ufficiale dell’Ordine al Merito della Repubblica Italiana for his outstanding contribution to science and public policy.
