Pietrangelo Buttafuoco is an Italian journalist and public intellectual who was appointed President of La Biennale di Venezia in March 2024.
Since taking office, he has been responsible for overseeing the activities of the institution, with a focus on ensuring continuity across its programs and supporting its role as an international cultural platform. His presidency covers the coordination of the Biennale’s various departments and the implementation of its scheduled exhibitions and festivals.
Among the ongoing activities under his tenure is the preparation of the 2026 Venice Art Biennale. Following the passing of the appointed artistic director Koyo Kouoh, the institution has confirmed its intention to proceed with the development of the exhibition project “In Minor Keys” in line with the established framework.
His mandate also includes participation in institutional appointments within the Biennale structure, such as the designation of Caterina Barbieri as Artistic Director of Biennale Musica for the 2025 and 2026 editions.
