Stefano Accorsi

Stefano Accorsi is an Italian actor, writer, and director born in Bologna in 1971, widely regarded as one of the most versatile performers in contemporary European cinema. Trained at Bologna’s Theatrical School, he began his career on stage before gaining prominence in film with Jack Frusciante Left the Band (1996), which established him as a leading talent.

He achieved major success with Le fate ignoranti (2001), earning the Nastri d’Argento for Best Actor, and L’ultimo bacio, a landmark in Italian cinema later adapted internationally. His career includes collaborations with leading European directors and roles in both Italian and French productions, including Les Brigades du Tigre and Un baiser s’il vous plaît. In 2002, he won the Coppa Volpi for Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival for Un viaggio chiamato amore.

Recognised for his contribution to culture, he was awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture. Alongside his film career, Accorsi remains deeply engaged in theatre and currently serves as Artistic Director of the Fondazione Teatro della Toscana, continuing to promote artistic innovation and cultural development.
